Note: Install a strainer (e.g. SAMSONType 2 N/2 NI) upstream of the regulator toprevent sealing particles, welding spatter orother impurities carried along by the processmedium from impairing the proper function-ing of the valve, especially tight shut-off.2.1 Mounting positionSee Fig. 3 for permissible mounting positions.Standard installation · Install the valve with-out the actuator in a horizontal pipeline withthe connection for the actuator facing down-wards. Make sure the medium flows throughthe valve in the direction indicated by the ar-row. Then connect the actuator (and the con-necting piece (10) for versions in sizes DN 15to 100) to the valve using the coupling nut(11).NOTICEProtect the regulator when it is used to controlfreezing process media. On shutting down the plant in areas not freefrom frost, depressurize and empty the regu-lator and remove it from the pipeline.2.2 StrainerA strainer installed in the flow pipe (Fig. 5)prevents foreign matter and dirt particles inthe medium from entering the regulator. TheSAMSON product range includes theType 2 N/2 NI Strainer (refer to Data SheetT 1010 EN).Install the strainer upstream of the regulator.Make sure the direction of medium flow cor-responds with the direction indicated by thearrow on the strainer. The filter element mustbe suspended downwards. Remember toleave enough space to remove it.2.3 Shut-off valveWe recommend installing a hand-operatedshut-off valve (Fig. 5) both upstream of thestrainer and at the outlet of the return flowpipe to be able to shut down the plant forcleaning and maintenance, and when theplant is not used for longer periods of time.2.4 Pressure gaugeTo monitor the pressures in the plant, install apressure gauge both upstream and down-stream of the regulator (Fig. 5).EB 3013 EN 7InstallationFig. 3 · Permissible mounting positions– Standard mounting position– all versions –– All versionsup to max. 80 °C– Only versions with fixedplug guide andup to max. 80 °C
