There may be asmall delay before captions appear whenyou change channels. These are notmalfunctions of the TV.3Press the VOL – or VOL +button to turn closedcaptioning on/off. In caption mode, captions appear atthe bottom of the screen, and they usual-ly cover only a small portion of thepicture.In text mode, information unrelated tothe program, such as news or weather, isdisplayed. Text often covers a largeportion of the screen.4Press the CH button toselect “Mode”, then pressVOL – or VOL + to select“Caption” or “Text.”Viewing Closed CaptionsYour TV decodes and displays the closed captions that are broadcast with certain TV shows.These captions are usually subtitles for the hearing impaired or foreign-language trans-lations. All VCRs record the closed caption signal from television programs, so home-record-ed video tapes also provide closed captions. Most pre-recorded commercial video tapes pro-vide closed captions as well. Check for the closed caption symbol in your television scheduleand on the tape’s packaging: .1Press the MENU button todisplay the menu.Press the CH button toselect the “Function”,then press the VOL+ but-ton.2Press the CH button toselect the “Caption”, thenpress the VOL+ button.5Depending on the particular broadcast, it might be necessary tomake changes to “Channels” and “Field”:Use the CH , CH , VOL + and VOL - buttons to make thechanges.
