Access menusTo access your phone’s menus,In Idle mode, press <1. Menu> to access Menu mode.You may need to press the Confirm key to accessMenu mode depending on your region or serviceprovider. When you are using the smart homescreen, you cannot use the Confirm key to accessMenu mode.Use the Navigation key to scroll to a menu or option.2.Press <3. Select> or the Confirm key to confirm thehighlighted option.Press <4. Back> to move up one level; Press [ ] toreturn to Idle mode.When you access a menu requiring the PIN2, you•must enter the PIN2 supplied by the SIM card.For details, contact your service provider.Samsung is not responsible for any loss of•passwords or private information or other damagescaused by illegal software.Make a callIn Idle mode, enter an area code and a phone1.number.Press [2. ] to dial the number.To end the call, press [3. ].Answer a callWhen a call comes in, press [1. ].To end the call, press [2. ].Adjust the volumeTo adjust the volume of the ringtoneIn Menu mode, select1. Settings → Sound profiles.Scroll to the profile you are using.2.If you are using the silent profile, you are not allowedto adjust the volume of the ringtone.Press <3. Edit> → Volume.Scroll to4. Call alert.Scroll left or right to adjust the volume level and press5.<Save>.To adjust the volume of voice during a callWhile a call is in progress, press the Navigation key up ordown to adjust the volume.In noisy environments, you may have difficulty hearingthe calls while using the speakerphone feature. Forbetter audio performance, use the normal phonemode.Change your ringtoneIn Menu mode, select1. Settings → Sound profiles.Scroll to the profile you are using.2.If you are using the silent profile, you are not allowedto change the ringtone.Press <3. Edit> → Voice call ringtone.Select a memory location (if necessary).4.Select a ringtone.5.To switch to another profile, select it from the list.Call a recently dialled numberIn Idle mode, press [1. ].Scroll left or right to select a call type.2.Scroll up or down to select a number or name.3.Press the Confirm key to view details of the call or4.[ ] to dial the number.Use the smart home screenThe smart home screen allows you to access yourfavourite applications and contacts and view upcomingevents or tasks. You can customise the smart homescreen to fit your preferences and needs.When you are using the smart home screen, theNavigation key does not work as shortcuts.To add items to the smart home screenIn Menu mode, select1. Settings → Display → Smarthome and scroll left or right to a smart home screen.Press <2. Edit>.Select the items to display on the smart home screen.For the shortcuts toolbar, you can add or deletethe shortcuts as desired. Press <Options> → Editshortcuts.Press <3. Options> → Save.Press the Confirm key.4.You can change the idle screen to another style. InMenu mode, select Settings → Display → Smarthome and scroll left or right to a style you want.To use other features for text inputTo move the cursor, press the Navigation key.•To delete characters one by one, press <• Clear>.To delete characters quickly, press and hold <Clear>.To insert a space between characters, press [• 0].To change the line, press [• 0] three times.To enter punctuation marks, press [• 1].Add a new contactThe memory location to save new contacts maybe preset depending on your service provider. Tochange the memory location, in Menu mode, selectContacts → <Options> → Settings → Save newcontact to → a memory location.In Idle mode, enter a phone number and press1.<Options>.Select2. Add to Contacts → Create contact →a memory location (if necessary).Select a number type (if necessary).3.Enter contact information.4.Press the Confirm key or press <5. Options> → Saveto add the contact to memory.Send and view messagesTo send a text or multimedia messageIn Menu mode, select1. Messages → Inbox.Select a text or multimedia message.2.Make fake callsYou can simulate an incoming call when you want to getout of meetings or unwanted conversations.To activate the fake call featureIn Menu mode, select Settings → Call → Fake call →Fake call hot key → On.To make a fake callIn Idle mode, press and hold the Navigation key down.•When the keys are locked, press the Navigation key•down four times.Activate and send an SOS messageIn an emergency, you can send SOS messages to yourfamily or friends for help.To activate the SOS messageIn Menu mode, select1. Messages → Settings → SOSmessages → Sending options.Press the Confirm key to turn on the SOS message.2.Scroll down and press the Confirm key to open the3.recipient list.Press <4. Options> → Search to open your contactlist. You can also enter phone numbers includinga country code (with +) in the recipient list. Skip tostep 7.Select a contact.5.Select a number (if necessary).6.When you are finished selecting contacts, press the7.Confirm key to save the recipients.Scroll down and set the number of times to repeat the8.SOS message.Press <9. Back> → <Yes>.To send an SOS messageWith the keys locked, press [1. ] four times to send anSOS message to preset numbers.The phone switches to SOS mode and sends thepreset SOS message.To exit SOS mode, press [2. ].Activate the mobile trackerWhen someone inserts a new SIM card in your phone, themobile tracker feature will automatically send the contactnumber to specified recipients to help you locate andrecover your phone.To activate the mobile tracker,In Menu mode, select1. Settings → Security → Mobiletracker.Enter your password and press <2. OK>.The first time you access Mobile tracker, you will beprompted to create and confirm a password.Press the Confirm key to turn on the mobile tracker3.feature.Scroll down and press the Confirm key to open the4.recipient list. Press <Options> → Contacts to openyour contact list.You can also enter a phone number including a countrycode (with +) in the recipient list. Skip to step 8.Select a contact.5.Select a number (if necessary).6.When you are finished setting the recipients, press7.<Add>.Press the Confirm key to save the recipients.8.Scroll down and enter the sender’s name.9.Press the Confirm key10. → <Accept>.Use the cameraTo capture photosIn Menu mode, select1. Camera.Rotate the phone anti-clockwise to landscape view.2.Aim the lens at the subject and make any3.adjustments.Press the Confirm key.4.The photo is saved automatically.To view photosIn Menu mode, select My files → Images → a photo file.To record videosIn Menu mode, select1. Camera.Rotate the phone anti-clockwise to landscape view.2.Press [3. 1] to switch to the camcorder.Aim the lens at the subject and make any4.adjustments.To access the smart home itemsPress the Navigation key to scroll through the items on thesmart home screen and press the Confirm key to selectan item.Enter textTo change the text input modePress and hold [ ] to switch between T9 and ABC modes.Depending on your region, you may be able to access aninput mode for your specific language.Press [• ] to change case or switch to Number mode.Press [• ] to switch to Symbol mode.Press and hold [• ] to select an input mode or changethe input language.T9 modePress the appropriate alphanumeric keys to enter an1.entire word.When the word displays correctly, press [2. 0] to inserta space. If the correct word does not display, pressthe Navigation key up or down to select an alternateword.ABC modePress an appropriate alphanumeric key until the characteryou want appears on the display.Number modePress an appropriate alphanumeric key to enter a number.Symbol modePress an appropriate alphanumeric key to enter a symbol.Press the Confirm key.5.Press <6. Stop> to stop recording.The video is saved automatically.To view videosIn Menu mode, select My files → Videos → a video file.Set and use alarmsTo set a new alarmIn Menu mode, select1. Alarms.Press <2. Create>.Set alarm details.3.Press <4. Save> or the Confirm key.To stop an alarmWhen the alarm sounds,Press <Confirm> or the Confirm key to stop the alarmwith snooze, or press <Snooze> to silence the alarm forthe snooze period.To deactivate an alarmIn Menu mode, select1. Alarms.Select the alarm you want to deactivate.2.Press <3. Options> → Deactivate alarm.If the battery has been removed, the scheduled alarmmay not sound.Maintain your water and dust resistantfeatureYour phone offers limited protection against accidentalexposure to water in some conditions, but you shouldnever intentionally immerse the phone in water.Do not expose your phone to high water pressures or•any other liquids, such as salt water, ionized water ordirty water.If the phone gets wet, dry it thoroughly with a clean soft•cloth.Ensure that all covers are properly aligned and tightly•closed.Always keep the back cover, headset jack cover,•multifunction jack cover, and the area around them cleanand be careful to avoid damaging them. If these areasbecome contaminated, they may not provide protectionfrom dust and water.Any service performed on the phone may reduce the•water and dust protection. Avoid exposing the phone todust and water if any service has been performed on it.Exposing the phone to extreme temperatures may•reduce the water and dust protection. Use your phone at-20 °C to 50 °C.Install the SIM card and batteryTurn the screw anti-clockwise to unlock the back cover,1.and then remove the cover and insert the SIM card.Insert the battery and replace the back cover, and turn2.the screw clockwise to lock the cover.Charge the batteryPlug a travel adapter.1. When charging is2.finished, unplug thetravel adapter.Do not remove the battery before removing the•travel adapter. Doing this may cause damage tothe phone.To save energy, unplug the travel adapter when not•in use. The travel adapter does not have a powerswitch, so you must unplug the travel adapter fromthe outlet when not in use to avoid wasting power.The travel adapter should remain close to the socketwhen in use.Insert a memory card (optional)Your phone accepts microSD™ or microSDHC™memory cards up to 16 GB (depending on memory cardmanufacturer and type).Formatting the memory card on a PC may cause•incompatibility with your phone.
