Settings 176Factory Data ResetYou can reset your device to factory defaults, erasing alldata from your device.This action permanently erases ALL data from thedevice, including Google or other account settings,system and application data and settings, downloadedapplications, as well as your music, photos, videos, andother files. Any data stored on an external SD card isnot affected.Note: When you sign in to a Google Account on yourdevice, Factory Reset Protection is activated. Thisprotects your device in the event it is lost or stolen.For more information, see “Factory Reset Protection” onpage 14.If you reset your device to factory default settings withthe Factory Reset Protection (FRP) feature turnedon, you must enter the user name and passwordfor a registered Google Account to regain access tothe device. You will not be able to access the devicewithout the correct credentials.Warning: If you reset your Google Account password, itcan take 24 hours for the password reset to sync withall devices registered to the account.Before resetting your device:1. Verify that the information you want to keep hastransferred to your storage area.2. Log in to your Google Account and confirm youruser name and password.To reset your device:1. From home, tap Apps > Settings.2. Tap General management > Reset.3. Tap Factory data reset.4. Tap Reset device and follow the prompts toperform the reset.5. When the device restarts, follow the prompts toset up your device.
