Settings 109Samsung keyboardConfigure Samsung keypad settings. When youenable Samsung keyboard in Settings, it isavailable for text entry when you touch a textfield to enter text.For more information, see “Using SamsungKeyboard” on page 28.1. From the Home screen, touch Apps ➔Settings ➔ Language and input.2. Samsung keyboard is enabled by default.Touch to configure options:• Portrait keyboard types: Choose the defaultkeypad when the screen is in portrait mode,from Qwerty or 3x4 keyboard (similar to a phonekeypad).• Input language: Select languages for theSamsung keyboard.Tip: When you have more than one languageselected, you can slide your finger on thespace bar while entering text to switchlanguages.• Predictive text: Touch to enablepredictive text, to have predictive text suggestwords matching your text entries and optionally,complete common words automatically. TouchPredictive text to configure options:– Word completion: When enabled, predictivetext automatically completes words matchingyour key touches.– Word completion point: Choose the numberof letters predictive text uses to predict words forautomatic completion.– Spell correction: Enable for automatic spellingcheck and correction.– Next word prediction: When enabled, thesystem predicts the next word based oncommon usage patterns.– Auto-append: When enabled, the mostcommon predicted word is automatically addedto your text.– Auto-substitution: When enabled, predictivetext automatically replaces words you enter withwords from the auto substitution list.– Regional correction: When enabled, predictivetext automatically changes the spelling of wordsbased on norms for your default language.– Recapture: When enabled, predictive text re-displays matching words when you makecorrections to a word inserted automatically.– My word list: Add words to your predictive textpredictive text dictionary.– Auto substitution list: Manage the list ofwords predictive text uses for auto-substitution(Auto-substitution setting must be enabled).
