From a Home screen, tap Apps >Settings > Personal.2. Tap Lock screen and security > Screen locktype to select a screen lock and level of security:• Swipe: Swipe the screen to unlock it. Thisoption provides no security.• Pattern: Create a pattern that you draw onthe screen to unlock your device. This optionprovides medium security.• PIN: Select a PIN to use for unlocking thescreen. This option provides medium to highsecurity.• Password: Create a password for unlockingthe screen. This option provides high security.• None: Never use a Lock screen.• Fingerprints: Use fingerprint recognitionto unlock the screen. This option providesmedium to high security.3. Select your notification preferences, if youchoose a secured lock screen option:• Show content• Hide content• Do not show notifications4. Tap Set up to set up and use fingerprints tounlock the device in addition to a PIN, pattern, orpassword. Tap Later to skip fingerprints setup.5. Choose a screen lock option:• Info and app shortcuts: Display a dual clock,or information such as the weather, on theLock screen.• Notifications on lock screen: Shownotifications on the Lock screen.• Secure lock settings: Set your secure lockfunctions such as Secured lock time, andSmart lock. This option is not available withSwipe.Note: Options vary based on the screen lock type.FingerprintsUse fingerprint recognition as an alternative toentering passwords in certain apps.You can also use your fingerprint to verify youridentity when logging in to your Samsung account.Note: Fingerprint recognition uses the uniquecharacteristics of each fingerprint to enhance thesecurity of your device. The likelihood of the fingerprintsensor confusing even small areas of two differentfingerprints is very low. But in rare cases, thesensor may recognize a fingerprint that is similarto a registered fingerprint.
