30 Camera and VideoApplicationsTake PicturesTake pictures with your device’s camera.Note: Prior to using the camera, remove the plasticprotective covering from the camera lens.1. From a Home screen, tap Apps >Camera.2. Using the display screen as a viewfinder,compose your shot by aiming the camera at thesubject. While composing your picture, use thedisplayed options or these gestures:• Touch the screen with two fingers and pinchor spread them on the screen to zoom inor out.• Tap the screen to focus on the areayou touched.3. Before taking the photo, you can tap the icons toaccess various camera options and settings. Youcan also touch the screen to move the focus fieldto the area you touch.4. Tap Take a picture to take the picture.Note: You can also press the Volume key up or downto take a picture or record video. This is the defaultaction of the Volume key while the camera is active.You can also set the Volume key to act as a zoom key.Shooting ModeSeveral visual effects are available.1. From a Home screen, tap Apps >Camera.2. Tap MODE Shooting mode for the following options.Both cameras• Night: Take brighter, clearer pictures in lowlight without flash.• Download: Download additional shootingmodes from the Galaxy Apps store.Rear camera• Auto: Allow the camera to evaluate thesurroundings and determine the ideal modefor the picture.• Pro: Manually adjust the ISO sensitivity,exposure value, white balance, and color tonewhile taking pictures.• Panorama: Create a linear image by takingpictures in either a horizontal or verticaldirection.• Continuous shot: Take pictures continuouslyby pressing and holding Capture.• HDR (rich tone): Save the picture in HDR(rich tone) only.Front camera• Selfie: Take selfie shots and apply variouseffects, such as an airbrushed effect.• Interval shot: Select the best pictures froma series of continuous shots taken at setintervals.Camera SettingsYou can adjust your camera’s settings using theicons on the main camera screen and the fullcamera settings menu.1. From a Home screen, tap Apps >Camera.2. Quick settings are listed across one side ofthe camera view finder. Available options varydepending on the camera or recording modeused. Default settings include:• Effect: Add special graphical effects.• Timer: Take time-delayed pictures or videos.• Beauty: Take a picture with lightened facesfor gentler images. (Available only on thefront camera.)• Picture size: Select a resolution. Use higherresolution for higher quality. Higher resolutionpictures take up more memory.3. Tap Settings to configure settings forCamera. Available options vary depending on theshooting mode used.Note: Not all of the following options are available inboth camera and video camera modes. The availableoptions also vary depending on the camera used.
