TROUBLESHOOTING8.18Copying ProblemsCondition Suggested solutionsCopies are too light or toodark.Use the "Darkness" feature to darken or lighten thebackground of the copies.Smears, lines, marks orspots appears on copies.• If defects are on the original document, use the"Darkness" feature to lighten the background of yourcopies.• If no defects are on the original document, clean thedocument glass and underside of the document cover.See page 7.5.Copy image is skewed. • Ensure that the original document is positionedcorrectly on the document glass.• Check that the copy paper is loaded correctly.Blank copies print out. Ensure that the original document is face down onthe document glass.Image rubs off the copyeasily.• Replace the paper in the paper tray with paper from anew package.• In high humidity areas, do not leave paper in themachine for the extended periods of time.Frequent copy paper jamsoccurs.• Fan the stack of paper, then turn it over in the papertray. For example, they may be forms,newsletters, books or other documents that use moretoner.• The machine may be turned frequently on and off.• The document cover may be left open while copies arebeing made.
