10.1 10 Installing accessoriesYour printer is a full-featured laser printer that has been optimized tomeet the majority of your printing needs. Recognizing that each usermay have different requirements, however, Samsung makes severalaccessories available to enhance the printer’s capabilities.This chapter includes:• Precautions when installing accessories• Installing a dual in-line memory module (DIMM)• Installing a network interface card• Using the hard diskPrecautions when installing accessoriesDisconnect the power cord:Never remove the control board cover while the printer is plugged in.To avoid the possibility of an electrical shock, always disconnect thepower cord when installing or removing ANY internal or externalaccessories.Discharge static electricity:The control board and internal accessories (network interface card,DIMM, and hard disk) are sensitive to static electricity. Before installingor removing internal accessories, discharge static electricity from yourbody by touching something metal, such as the metal back plate on anydevice plugged into a grounded power source. If you walk round beforefinishing installation, discharge any static electricity once again.Installing a dual in-line memory module (DIMM)Your printer has a dual in-line memory module (DIMM) slot.
