2.20 Receiving a faxReceiving a fax when the machine is out of paperIncoming fax transmissions are automatically stored in memory under thefollowing conditions:• Out of paper• A paper jam occurs• A document is copying• A list is printingAfter receiving documents, the machine display ‘MEMORY RECEIVED’and the cause. For example, ‘NO PAPER’.When the condition is cleared, for example by loading new paper orclearing a jam, the machine will automatically print the fax stored inmemory.If you clear the problem while the machine is receiving documents intomemory, it will print the stored document immediately upon clearing theproblem.Distinctive ring pattern detection (DRPD) - (option)“Distinctive ring” is a telephone company service which enables a user touse a single telephone line to answer several different telephone numbers.The particular number someone uses to call you is identified by adistinctive ringing pattern consisting of various combinations of long andshort ringing sounds. This feature is often used by answering services whoanswer telephones for many different clients and need to know whichnumber someone is calling in on to properly answer the phone.Using the DRPD (Distinctive Ring Pattern Detection) feature, this machinecan “learn” the ring pattern you designate to be answered by the faxmachine. Unless you change it, this ringing pattern will continue to berecognized and answered as a fax call, and all other ringing patterns will beforwarded to the telephone or answering machine plugged into the TELjack. You can easily suspend or change DRPD (Distinctive Ring PatternDetection) at any time. see selectable options on page 2.45.With the DRPD feature active, ‘DRPD’ appears in the display and thepreviously set reception mode is ignored. If you turn DRPD off, themachine returns to any previously set receiving mode.
