OfficeServ 7100 Service Manual© SAMSUNG Electronics Co., Ltd. 2-452.5.13.2 Main FeaturesThe Main Features of the PLIM board are as follows:y 10/100 Mbps Ethernet switch of 16 portsy Layer-2 Level Management Ethernet switch interworked with the WIM boardy Management/Unmanagement function in layer2 levely VLAN, 802.1D, 802.1s in layer 2 levelThe PLIM board is classified into the EEPROM where data required to boot the system arestored by the Viatech VT6526 Ethernet switch chipset, the PHY where digital data areencoded or decoded by 4B5B and are processed by analog signals, the IDE bus of 8 bit thatperforms management switching by inter-working with the WIM or MCP, and 1-portEthernet of 10/100 Mbps for speeding up the data traffic when working with the WIM.By default, VT6526, which is a chipset that can or cannot perform management, has beenselected. The VT6526 is configured with the Bootstrap mode, EEPROM mode, andIntelligent CPU mode. The Bootstrap mode sets a physical mode depending on whetherspecific pins of the chipset are set to high or low at initial boot in non-management switchmode. The EEPROM mode sets chipset configuration by getting register settings from theNM24C08 connected to the VT6526 at initial boot. The Intelligent CPU mode is used wheninter-working with the WIM board. This mode obtains VT6526 switch chipset registersettings from the WIM board through 8-bit IDE bus and configures the settings. The LIMboard can any of the three modes. The Viatech VT6108 chipset used as the Octal PHY of 10/100 Mbps supports the SMII,S3MII, or RMII interface. The quality of RXCLK is improved in the S3MII interfacecompared with SMII and its reliability is enhanced. Therefore, the S3MII interface hasbeen adopted. Also, the VT6108 supports Auto MDI/MDIX and is available to both straightand cross-over cables. A LED on each port shows links and speed.Restriction of PLIM boardWhen the PLIM board is used in OfficeServ 7100, there are restrictions for functions.PoE function and Managed Switch function are not provided.
