28_ operatingCHANGING THE WATER FILTERTo reduce risk of water damage to yourproperty DO NOT use generic brands ofwater filers in your SAMSUNG Refrigerator.USE ONLY SAMSUNG BRAND WATERFILTERS. SAMSUNG will not be legallyresponsible for any damage, including, butnot limited to property damage caused bywater leakage from use of a generic waterfi lter.SAMSUNG Refrigerators are designed towork ONLY WITH SAMSUNG Water Filter.The “Filter Indicator” light lets you know when it istime to change your water filter cartridge.When the filter indicator light changes to red, it is timeto change the filter.To give you some time to get a new fi lter, the light willcome on up just before the capacity of the currentfi lter runs out.Changing the filter on time provides you with thefreshest, cleanest water from your fridge.1. Remove the water filter from the box andput a month indicator sticker on the filter asshown.2. Place a sticker on the filter that dates sixmonths in the future. For example, if youare replacing the water fi lter in March, putthe “SEP” (September) sticker on the filterto remind you to replace in September.Normally filter life is about every 6 months.3. Next, remove the fixed cap by turning itcounter clockwise.4. Remove the new filter’s protective cap andremove the old fi lter.5. Position and insert the new filter into the fi lterhousing.Slowly turn the water fi lter clockwise 90º toalign with the indication mark on the cover,locking the filter in position. Make surethat the indicator is lined up with the “lock”position. Do not over tighten.6. Once you have completed this process, hold theIce Type button for 3 seconds to reset the filterschedule.7. Lastly, Dispense 1L of water through waterdispenser and throw away. Make sure that waterfl ows clearly again before drinking.A newly installed water filter cartridge maycause water to briefly spurt from the waterdispenser.
