28Finding out you have a message.Your Sprint PCS Phone alerts you in several ways when you havenew voicemail messages:˛ By displaying a message on the screen˛ By sounding five short beeps (if the message ringer is turned on)˛ By flashing the red light at the top of the phone˛ By displaying at the bottom of your screenTo acknowledge the notification of a new message, simply pressany key (except , the volume keys or ). The redlight will continue to flash and a reminder beep will soundperiodically until you do this.Once you’ve acknowledged a message, the standby display willreturn. You can have up to 30 new or saved messages and eachcan be stored for up to 30 days.Retrieving messages.To listen to your messages, simply press for at leastone second. The automated voicemail system will tell you how toproceed.29Internal phone bookand call logs.Your Sprint PCS Phone comes with an internal phone book andcall logs. All the basic features and functions of your phone bookare described below. See page 34 for instructions on how to useyour call logs.Understanding your phone’s memory.Your Sprint PCS Phone has 99 phone book memory locations –that is, 99 places to store phone numbers with names. Eachphone number can include up to 32 digits and each name canhave up to 12 characters. When storing confidential numbers, usememory locations 90-99. Numbers stored in those locations willnot be displayed either during a phone call or in the call log.Saving and storing a phone number.When adding numbers to your internal phone book, keep inmind that memory locations 1 through 9 should be used forSpeed Dialing (your most commonly used phone numbers).To save numbers, simply follow the directions on page 30.
