Thefollowing table lists the display icons and their descriptions.Display iconsSignal strength: Always appears when your phone is onand indicates the current signal strength. More lines indicatea stronger signal.Auto Answer: Automatic answer is enabled. Your phoneautomatically picks up any calls after the designated time.GSM (Int’l) mode: Your phone is in GSM (Int’l) mode. GSM(Int’l) mode is for operation outside of the United States.In Use: Indicates a call in progress. When dialing a number,this icon flashes until the call connects.No service indicator: Your phone cannot find a signalbecause you’re outside a service area. You cannot make orreceive calls. Wait for a signal or move to an open area tofind a signal. This indicator always appears when you firstturn on your phone and disappears once service is located.Roaming indicator: Your phone is outside your home area.While roaming, another wireless provider may be handlingyour call. The service rate for the call may be higher thanthose made from within your home area. Please refer toVerizon Wireless for roaming rates.New Message: You’ve received a new text, page or webalert message. You’re also notified of a new message byanimations and sound.Voice Mail: You have one or more unread voice mailmessages in your voice mailbox.1X Protocol: Indicates your phone is using the 1X protocol.The 1X protocol is capable of high-speed data (3G).
