Section 12: Health and Safety Information 193Battery Standby and Talk TimeSection 12Battery Standby and Talk TimeStandby and talk times will vary depending on phoneusage patterns and conditions. Battery powerconsumption depends on factors such as networkconfiguration, signal strength, operating temperature, features selected, frequency of calls, and voice, data, andother application usage patterns.Battery Precautions• Avoid dropping the cell phone. Dropping it, especially on a hardsurface, can potentially cause damage to the phone andbattery. If you suspect damage to the phone or battery, take itto a service center for inspection.• Never use any charger or battery that is damaged in any way.• Use the battery only for its intended purpose.• If you use the phone near the network's base station, it usesless power; talk and standby time are greatly affected by thesignal strength on the cellular network and the parameters setby the network operator.• Follow battery usage, storage and charging guidelines found inthe user’s guide.• Battery charging time depends on the remaining battery chargeand the type of battery and charger used. The battery can becharged and discharged hundreds of times, but it will graduallywear out. When the operation time (talk time and standby time)is noticeably shorter than normal, it is time to buy a newbattery.• If left unused, a fully charged battery will discharge itself overtime.• Use only Samsung-approved batteries and recharge yourbattery only with Samsung-approved chargers. When a chargeris not in use, disconnect it from the power source. Do not leavea990.book Page 193 Wednesday, February 22, 2006 4:37 PM
