83Text MessagesYou can choose the following options, by pressingthe Options soft key.Text Reply: allows you to reply by sending a textmessage. You can also:• Change the SMS centre number (if required)• Send the message• Save and send the message• Save but not send the messageCall back: allows you to call the sender back.Delete: allows you to delete obsolete messages.Cut Number: allows you to extract a number fromthe message text, so that you can call the number orsave it in the phonebook.Send: allows you to send a message that you havenot already sent.Send again: allows you to resend a message thatyou have already sent.Note: The options available vary, depending on themessage status (New/Old, Not Sent, Sent).Write Messages Menu 3-2Via this menu, you can write text messages of up to160 alphanumeric characters.Note: For further information on how to enter thecharacters in your message, refer to page 41.82Text MessagesThe SMS (Short Message Service) function is anetwork service and may not be supported by yournetwork. Messages can be sent by fax, E-mail, ERMESor X.400 messaging systems, provided that theseservices are supported by your network. To send textmessages by phone, you must obtain the number ofthe SMS centre from your service provider.When the icon appears, you have received newtext messages. If the message memory is full, anerror message is displayed and you cannot receiveany new messages. Use the Delete option in theRead Messages menu (3-1) to delete obsoletemessages.Read Messages Menu 3-1When the Read Messages option is selected, theheader of the first message is displayed:• Message number• Message status (New, Old, Not Sent, Sent)To view this message, press the View soft key.
