53Health and safety informationSAR certification informationThis phone meets European Union (EU) requirementsconcerning exposure to radio waves.Your mobile phone is a radio transmitter and receiver. Itis designed and manufactured to not exceed the limitsfor exposure to radio-frequency (RF) energy, asrecommended by the EU Council. These limits are partof comprehensive guidelines and establish permittedlevels of RF energy for the general population. Theguidelines were developed by independent scientificorganisations through the periodic and thoroughevaluation of scientific studies. The limits include asubstantial safety margin designed to ensure the safetyof all persons, regardless of age and health. The exposure standard for mobile phones employs aunit of measurement known as Specific Absorption Rate(SAR). The SAR limit recommended by the EU Council is2.0 W/kg.1The highest SAR value for this model phone was 0.679W/kg.SAR tests are conducted using standard operatingpositions with the phone transmitting at its highestcertified power level in all tested frequency bands.Although the SAR is determined at the highest certifiedpower level, the actual SAR level of the phone whileoperating can be well below the maximum value. This isbecause the phone is designed to operate at multiplepower levels so as to use only the power required toreach the network. In general, the closer you are to abase station, the lower the power output of the phone.1. The SAR limit for mobile phones used by the public is 2.0watts/kilogram (W/kg) averaged over ten grams of bodytissue. The limit incorporates a substantial margin of safety togive additional protection for the public and to account for anyvariations in measurements. The SAR values may vary, depending on national reporting requirements and thenetwork band.
