66Section 7Text MessagesShort Message Service (SMS) allows you to send andreceive short text messages to and from other mobilephones. In addition, your phone supports the EnhancedMessaging Service (EMS), which enables you to includesimple pictures, melodies, and animated images in yourmessages. To use this feature, you must subscribe to yourservice provider’s message service.When the Message icon ( ) appears, you have receivednew text messages. When the memory is full, an errormessage displays and you cannot receive any newmessages. Use the Delete option in each message box todelete obsolete messages.CreateIn this menu, you can write and send a text message.Creating a Simple Text Message1. Create your message.You can create a message using standard Alphabetcharacters or special Uni-code characters, depending onthe setting in the Character support menu.Notes: For further details about entering characters, see "Entering Upperand Lower Case" on page 47.You can enter up to 918 standard Alphabet characters in your message.When you enter text using Uni-code characters, the maximum number ofcharacters which can be in a message is reduced to approximately half.2.
