83Section 10: ConnectionsYour phone includes features to connect to the internet and toother devices.Wi-FiWi-Fi® is a wireless networking technology that provides accessto local area networks.Wi-Fi communication requires access to an existing WirelessAccess Point (WAP). WAPs can be Open (unsecured), or Secured(requiring you to provide login credentials).Your phone supports the 802.11 a/b/g/n Wi-Fi protocol.Wi-Fi Enhanced ConnectivityBy default, this smartphone has Wi-Fi turned on out of the box.When you launch certain data enabled apps (like the browser),the device scans for available networks. If networks are found,you will be prompted to connect to an available Wi-Fi network.• When prompted, touch a Wi-Fi network to connect. You will be askedto confirm your selection, touch Yes. If the Wi-Fi network is open, youwill be automatically connected. If the Wi-Fi network is secured, enterthe password at the prompt to connect.• If you do not want to connect to a Wi-Fi network, touch Do not useWi-Fi, remind me later.Note: If you do not want to be prompted to connect to new Wi-Fi networks,uncheck the Notify Me check box within the Wi-Fi Settings menu.Configuring Wi-Fi SettingsConfigure your phone’s Wi-Fi® settings.Notify meYou can set the Notify me option to have your device alert you tonearby wireless access points when you launch an applicationthat uses data, to give you the option of using Wi-Fi® for theconnection.
