1.5 < Introduction>Place the machine on a flat and stable surface for not letting it tiltmore than 2 mm (0.08 inches). Otherwise, it may affect the printingquality.2 Unpack the machine and check all the enclosed items.3 Remove the tape holding the machine tightly.4 Install the toner cartridge.5 Load paper. (See "Loading paper" on page 4.4.)6 Make sure that all the cables are connected to the machine.7 Turn the machine on.Caution•This equipment will be inoperable when mains power fails.•When you move the machine, do not tilt or turn it upsidedown. Otherwise, the inside of the machine may becontaminated by toner, which can cause damage to themachine or bad printing quality.•When the printer driver is in the installation process, thedriver detects the locale information of your operatingsystem, and sets the paper size for your machine. If youuse the different Windows locale, you must change thepaper size of your machine for matching your commonlyused paper size. Open the printer properties to change thepaper size.Altitude adjustmentThe print quality is affected by atmospheric pressure, which isdetermined by the height of the machine above sea level. The followinginformation will guide you on how to set your machine to the best printquality or best quality of print.Before you set the altitude value, find the altitude where you are usingthe machine.1 Ensure that you have installed the printer driver with the providedPrinter Software CD.2 Double-click the Smart Panel icon on the Windows task bar(or Notification Area in Linux).You can also click Smart Panel on the status bar in Mac OS X.3 Click Printer Setting.4 Click Setting > Altitude Adjustment.
