DRAFT 4TB9400 Installation and Operation Manual Working with Base Stations from Your PC 49© Tait Electronics Limited September 20114.2.3 Responding to Security WarningsWhen your browser connects to a TB9400 for the first time, it raises asecurity warning. Normally, secure websites have a security certificate issuedby a trusted Certification Authority. This is to foil attempts by roguewebsites to pretend to be something they are not. Obtaining such certificatesis impractical for each installed TB9400, so a self-signed certificate is createdwhen the reciter’s firmware is installed.Your browser raises a security warning because the security certificate wasnot issued by a trusted Certification Authority. The browser has a way ofletting you override or bypass the security warning. In Internet Explorer, you install a certificate, in Mozilla Firefox you add an exception, and inGoogle Chrome you elect to proceed anyway. You can be confident that you are not connecting to a rogue websitepretending to be your TB9400, so follow the procedure below to tell thebrowser that the security certificate is OK. The browser then stores thesecurity certificate and will not raise a warning on subsequent connections, unless the IP address of the TB9400 changes or you use a different URLsuch as https://127.0.0.1.
