EnglishBasic operation 23Basic operationThis section describes the basic operation of your radio,including turning the radio on and off, adjusting volume,selecting channels, making calls and receiving calls.Turning the radio on and offA long press of the on/off key turns the radio either on or off.When the radio is first turned on, the red, green and orangeLEDs flash briefly and the radio gives two short beeps.Unlocking the radioYou may need to enter a personal identification number (PIN)before you can use your radio. If the display shows either — or—— after power-up, enter your assigned PIN.Once you have entered your PIN correctly, the radio sounds twoshort beeps and normal operation is now possible.If you do not know your PIN or if your radio gives a long,low-pitched beep, consult your radio provider or administrator.Adjusting the volumeRotate the volume control clockwise to increase the speakervolume and counterclockwise to decrease the volume. Thevolume control also changes the volume level of the radio’saudible indicators.Selecting a channel or groupUse the channel selection keys or to scroll throughthe channel list until the channel or group you want isdisplayed. A group can be either a scan group (see “Scanning”on page 27) or a voting group (see “Voting” on page 27).
