If an incoming call carries thespecial signalling tones specific to you or your user group,your radio’s signalling mute opens and you can hear the call.These tones may not be audible.The monitor function may allow you to override any specialsignalling on a channel, so that you can check that the chan-nel is clear before you make a call.Note: Your radio may be programmed to activate monitorwhenever the microphone is off the microphone clip.To activate monitor, you may be able to either:■ remove the microphone from the microphone clip,■ use a programmed function key, or■ use the Main menu.Activating monitor by using a function key1 Press the monitor function key to activate monitor andhear any traffic on the channel.While monitor is on, the greenLED flashes slowly and the moni-tor symbol appears inthe display.2 Press the monitor function key again to turn monitor off,or wait for monitor to turn off automatically, after aprogrammed delay.When monitor turns off, thegreen LED stops flashing andthe monitor symbol disap-pears from the display.Note: Your radio may be programmed so that monitor turnsoff automatically after a short time.
