5 – Recording CDs—Advanced recordingTASCAM CC-222 Owner’s Manual 31Automatic track divisionThe trigger level, as set above (“Synchronizedrecording” on page 30) can also be used to dividetracks if the A-TRACK (auto track) function isenabled. When this function is enabled, the unit automaticallyinserts a track division in the recorded material when:• recording digitally from MD, CD or DAT, an incre-ment signal is detected and the sound level risesabove the threshold:or• increment signals are unavailable (e.g. analogrecording or digital sources other than MD. CD orDAT) and the sound level has dropped below thethreshold for more than two seconds, and soundhas re-startedTo enable or disable automatic track division:1 With a recordable disc inserted, and with theunit in record ready mode, press the MENUkey repeatedly until A_TRACK>XX isshown, where XX may be ON or OFF.2 Turn the MULTI DIAL or use the SKIP keys tochange the value as required. The A-TRACK indicator at the top right of thedisplay lights when the auto track function isenabled.NOTEWhen recording certain types of material (e.g. certaintypes of classical music or spoken word) through theanalog connections, since the track divisions are deter-mined by relative silence, it is possible that spurioustrack divisions will be inserted. Under these conditions,it may be better to use manual track division (“Manualtrack division” on page 26).However, if recording through a digital connection, thetrack number will be incremented only when a trackdivision signal is received, followed by a rise in volume.A fall and subsequent rise in volume alone whenrecording digitally from CD, MD or DAT is not sufficientto trigger an automatic track increment. You may find it helpful to use the track restrictionfacility (see “Restricting the number of tracks” onpage 26) together with the automatic track division. For instance, if you have recorded two albums on oneDAT tape, and you wish to make two separate CDsfrom this tape, you can use the MULTI DIAL to set thenumber of tracks to the number of tracks comprisingthe first album. When the final track of the first album has beenrecorded, the unit automatically performs the PMAwriting procedure and enters stop mode.timelevelS_LVLCD-RWincrementstrackTrack incrementfrom sourcetimelevelS_LVLAt least 2secondsTrackincrementtimelevelS_LVLTrack incrementedTrack start signalreceivedtimelevelS_LVLLong "pause"in signal, buttrack is notincrementedDigital recording from CD, MD and DAT
