4 – Recording20 TASCAM CD-RW750 Owner’s ManualWhen in record or record ready mode, repeatedpresses of the DISPLAY key ( A or ) cycle betweendisplaying the remaining time left for recording onthe disc (TOTAL REMAIN ) and the elapsed time of thetrack currently being recorded (no indicator lit). When playback is stopped at the start of a recordabledisc, there are only two options available: TOTAL (thetotal time recorded so far on the disc) and TOTALREMAIN (the total time available on the disc for furtherrecording).Manual track divisionIt is possible to divide the recording into tracks “onthe fly” while recording. While recording is taking place, press the RECORDkey ( K or E) . The current track number is incre-mented by one.For details of automatic track division while record-ing, see “Automatic track division” on page 22.NOTEAccording to the “Red Book” (the specification foraudio CDs), a track cannot be less than four seconds inlength, and there can be a maximum of 99 tracks on anaudio CD. Bear these limitations in mind when addingtrack divisions.Full discIf recording a long program, when there is no spaceremaining on the disc for recording, as shown by thetime display (see “Time display while recording” onpage 19), just before the end of the disc is reached, the unit starts a fade-out over a few seconds (the dis-play shows Fade OUT).When the fade-out has finished, the display showsDisc Full!! for a few seconds, and the unitthen goes into stop mode (the display shows PMAWriting). If the disc is a CD-RW, the final track can be erased,if required (see “Erasing tracks” on page 26) and thedisc then finalized. If the disc is a CD-R, it must befinalized prior to use (see “Finalizing” on page 25).Advanced recordingThese sections cover more advanced recording tech-niques which may be of use to you.Synchronized recordingSynchronized recording basically means that record-ing will begin automatically when a signal isreceived, and will stop when the signal ends.Use the SYNC REC key ( L or F) key to select thesynchronization mode. The synchronization modedetermines the automated start and stopping ofrecording when a signal is received.Repeated presses of this key cycle through the fol-lowing modes:• SYNC ALL• SYNC 1• SYNC OFFas shown in the display. After the synchronization mode is selected, therecord ready mode must then be entered (you cannotreverse the order of these steps).Starting playback of the source automatically startsrecording on the CD-RW750 if SYNC ALL orSYNC 1 has been selected (see “Sync recording(start)” on page 21) and manual record start is dis-abled. If SYNC OFF is selected, the recordingmust be started manually. The sync modes are related to the trigger level (asexplained in “Setting the trigger level” on page 22).
