12 TASCAM US-2x2/US-4x45 – ConnectionsElectronic instruments and other audioequipmentWhen connecting an electronic instrument or other audioequipment directly to this unit, use the IN1 and IN2 jacks on thefront of the unit and set their MIC/LINE INST switches to MIC/LINE.Analog record playersThe output of an analog record player cannot be connecteddirectly to this unit. To connect an analog record player to thisunit, a phono amp and equalizer (or an audio amplifier that hasphono input jacks) must be connected between them.Monitor speakersConnect monitor speakers (powered speakers or an amplifierand speaker system) to the LINE OUT 1-2 jacks on the back ofthe unit.Use the LINE OUT knob on the front of the unit to adjust thespeaker volume.HeadphonesConnect headphones to the PHONES jack (standard stereo) onthe front of the unit.NOTEThe same signals are output from both the 1 and 2 jacksof the US-4x4.CAUTIONBefore connecting headphones, minimize the volume withthe PHONES knob. Failure to do so might cause sudden loudnoises, which could harm your hearing or result in othertrouble.MIDI connectionsConnect sound modules, keyboards, synthesizers, drummachines and other MIDI devices to the unit in the followingmanner.i If you want to monitor sound from a MIDI device, connect itsoutputs to this unit's LINE IN or use in external mixer.i You can also use the MIDI IN and MIDI OUT connectorson the back of the unit to send and receive MIDI timecode(MTC). By doing this, you can use an application thatsupports MTC to synchronize a multitrack recorder (MTR) andMIDI devices.CAUTION• The USB indicator might stay lit even after the connectedcomputer is shut down.
