52D/A Converter SettingsA number of special settings are available for the PDP 3000 HV D/A converter;they are designed to fine-tune the characteristics of your amplifier to suit yourlistening preferences.Calling up and operatingthe menu The menu is called up with a long press on the button on theremote control handset. Use the / buttons to select a menu point. The value can now be changed using the / buttons. A second long press on the button quits the menu. The following set-up options are available according to what is currently beingplayed. For example, the SACD Oversampling settings can only be selected ifyou are playing an SACD.DSP set-up optionOversampling (OVS)The PDP 3000 HV can exploit four different filter types offering different tonalcharacters: OVS long FIRis a classic FIR filter with an extremely linear frequency response. OVS short FIRis a FIR filter with improved peak handling. OVS Bezier / FIRis a Bezier interpolator combined with a IIR filter. This process produces aresult very similar to an analogue system. OVS Bezieris a pure Bezier interpolator – offering perfect “timing” and dynamics. Please refer to the Chapter 'Technical description - Digital filters /Oversampling' for an explanation of the different filter types.Set-up optionSACD DAC ModeAll SACD discs are recorded using the DSD64 format. For this reason SACDmaterial is invariably played using a sampling rate of DSD64. In SACD mode, the noise-shaping and signal processing procedures in the PDP 3000 HV areoptimised for the requirements of the SACD system. Depending on theloudspeakers and amplifier system you are using, the process can be fine-tuned in the following ways: DAC Mode SACD 1High-frequency noise in the DSD signal is effectively filtered out. Universalfilter, suitable for all amplifiers and loudspeakers. DAC Mode SACD 2This filter has a rather softer roll-off than the SACD1 filter. We recommendthis setting for high-bandwidth amplifiers, i.e. >= 100 kHz.
