3Choosing the correct slim tube HE length will ensure amore accurate, comfortable fit. The measurement toolincluded in the kit allows for a quick and simplemeasurement and has the following features:Color Code Markings – blue (leftear) and red (right ear) color codemarkings to indicate which of theclient’s ears to measure.Horizontal Line Markings – measurements must be madehorizontally with the measurement tool touching the skinin the gap between the head and the top of the pinna.Four Horizontal Sightlines – (0-1-2-3) – to indicate whichtube length you should use for an accurate fitting.To measure for an accurate slim tube HE length:1. Place your head at thesame horizontal level asthe client’s head so youare looking straight intothe client’s ear that youwish to fit with the hearing instrument.2. Hold the measurement tool with theappropriate blue or red color codemarking (for the left or right ear) withyour thumb placed on the ear diagram.3. Place the measurement tool on thetop of the ear and in contact with theskin in the narrow gap between thehead and the pinna. Keep thehorizontal line on the measurementtool horizontal and level.4. Choose the sightline (0-1-2-3) on themeasurement tool that is most parallelwith the top of the opening of the earcanal. In this example, the sightlinemarked 1 would be the most accurate choice.5.
