10* Depending on versionTROUBLE SHOOTINGThere may be times when you suspect that yourcar radio is not functioning as you would expect itto. Before calling for service, please read theoperating / installation instructions and review thefollowing checklists. You may find that an apparentmalfunction can easily be rectified.If you still have to send your set for service, alwayssend the complete set (with detachable panel).Do not try to open the set to service it yourself.AudioSet does not function. No Display.• Check fuse (set and car) and connections.• Check the operating voltage.Set functions but no sound.• Adjust the volume of the set.• Check fader and balance settings.• Check aerial and its connection.RadioCannot tune to desired station.• Check that the aerial is fully extended andproperly connected.• Check that the negative terminal (brown lead)is connected to earth (car chassis).• Desired station is too weak, try Manual Tuning.Poor tuner reception.• In some cars (e.g. VW and Seat) there is anactive aerial on the roof that needs a 12 Voltsupply. Please ask your dealer to checkwhether a 12 volt is supplied to the antenna.Display shows frequency (not station name).• Set is tuned to non-RDS station.• RDS function is switched off.Radio mutes momentarily while display shows'SEARCH' and station name/frequencyalternately.• Set is checking a list of Alternative Frequencies(AF) for the tuned radio station as reception isweak. In case no AF is transmitted for the tunedstation, switch off AF.Display shows 'NO TA', and set beeps at intervals.• The tuned station becomes too weak to enablethe reception of Traffic Announcements. Usesearch tuning to find another station.• If the TA mode is switched on, search tuningonly selects stations which enable the receptionof Traffic Announcements.CassetteDisplay shows 'TAPE ERR'.• Check cassette for faults.Cassette playback lacks high-notes or loss ofone channel.• Clean cassette player tape head.Tape Slack• Check and make sure any slack in the tape istaken up before inserting the tape into the unit.A loose tape can get caught in the mechanismand cause damage to the unit and tape itself.Tighten the tape by using a pencil or a similarinstrument into the spindle hole and turn until allslack has been taken up.CDDisplay shows 'CD ERROR' and set beeps.• Check that the disc have been inserted in thecorrect way and that you have not inserted adamaged or dirty disc.Distorted sound during playback.• Player unable to read disc. CD damaged ordirty.CD player does not function.• If the weather is cold, there may be somecondensation on the laser. Use the set in radiomode for about 5 minutes to allow the moistureto evaporate.Display shows 'NO CD' or 'NO DISC'.• Check that the CD mechanism has been loadedwith disc.2004-4-30, 14:3810
