SERVICING43Before commencing any servicing ormaintenance work, carry out an initialinspection of the system as follows:l Inspect the flue, pipework andelectrical connections forindications of damage ordeterioration.l Inspect the air supply andventilation arrangements of theinstallation.l Check the heating and watersystem, in particular the conditionof radiator valves, evidence ofleakage from the heating systemand dripping hot water taps.Functional check of boiler operationl Carry out a functional check of theboiler operation as prevoiuslydetailed.l Remove the appliance casing asdetailed on page 20 and operatethe boiler by fully opening a hotwater tap. Inspect the burneroperation through the viewingwindow. Check that the flames areevenly covering the surface of theburner. Inspect for signs ofexcessive flame lift or sooting.Initial Inspection To ensure the continued safe andefficient operation of the boiler it isrecommended that it is checked andserviced as necessary at regularintervals. The frequency of servicingwill depend upon the particularinstallation conditions and usage, butin general once per year should beadequate. It is the law that all ser-vicing work is carried out by a com-petent person (Corgi registered).Important: Before starting anymaintenance work:l Isolate the mains electricity supplyby disconnecting the plug at thesocket outlet (if there is only anisolating switch remove the fusefrom the switch).l Turn OFF the gas supply at the gasservice valve fitted to the boiler.l Always test for gas soundness andalways carry out functional checksafter any service work and afterexchanging any gas carryingcomponent.l Always check earth continuity,polarity and resistance to earthwith a multimeter after any servicework and after exchanging anyelectrical component.Note: The boiler is fitted with acombustion analysis test point. Asuitable combustion analyser can beconnected to this point to establishthe combustion performance of theboiler.
