In the UK ‘CORGI’ registered installersundertake the work in compliance with safe and satisfac-tory standards.All unvented domestic hot water cylinders must beinstalled by a competent person to the prevailing buil-ding regulations at the time of installation (G3).Terms and conditions apply to the warranty, details ofwhich can be found on the warranty registration cardincluded with this appliance.Failure to install and commission this appliance in com-pliance with the manufacturer’s instructions may invali-date the warranty (this does not affect the customer’sstatutory rights).7 Inspection and maintenance7.1 Initial inspectionTo ensure the continued safe and efficient operation ofthe boiler it is recommended that it is checked and serv-iced as necessary at regular intervals. The frequency ofservicing will depend upon the particular installationconditions and usage. An inspection must be carried outonce a year.Danger!It is law that all servicing work is carried out bya competent person (CORGI registered).Inspections/Maintenance work not carried outby a competent person can result in damage toproperty and personal injury.Only genuine Vaillant spare parts may be used forinspections, maintenance and repair work to ensure thelong-term working order of all functions of your Vaillantappliance.Any spare parts which might be required are containedin the current spare parts catalogues.Information can be obtained from Vaillant CustomerService Centres.7.1.1 Safety instructionsImportant:Before starting any maintenance work:• Isolate the mains electricity supply by disconnectingthe plug at the socket outlet (if there is only an isolat-ing switch remove the fuse from the switch).• Turn OFF the gas supply at the gas service valve fittedto the boiler.• When removing any water carrying componentsensure that water is kept away from all electrical com-ponents.• Always use new seals and O–rings when parts arereplaced.• Always test for gas soundness and always carry outfunctional checks after any service work and afterreplacing any gas carrying component.• Always check earth continuity, polarity and resistanceto earth with a multimeter after any service work andafter replacing any electrical component.Danger!Electrocution by touching live parts can befatal!The supply terminals in the appliance switchbox are live even if the main ON/OFF switch isturned off.Protect the switch box from spray water.Before working on the appliance, turn off thepower supply and secure against restart!Always perform the following steps after completing anyinspection tasks:• Open the service valves in the heating flow and returnand in the cold water inlet (combination boilers only).• If necessary, refill the device with cold water up to apressure of approx 1.5 bar and bleed air from theentire heating system.• Open the service valve of the gas supply pipe.• Turn on the power supply and the main switch.• Check the appliance for gas and water leaks.• Fill and bleed air from the heating system again, ifnecessary.NoteIf it is necessary to keep the main switch on forcertain inspection and maintenance, this is indi-cated in the description of the maintenancetask.NoteThe boiler is fitted with a combustion analysistest point. A suitable combustion analyser canbe connected to this point to establish the com-bustion performance of the boiler.
