45Appendix 2A Guide to Positioning Multipipes:Vapac Humidity Control Ltd. Issue this as a guide only, and accept no responsibility forthe positioning of any pipes in a system. This remains the responsibility of the ProjectDesign Engineer.Notes:1 Steam pipe to have a minimum slope fromthe horizontal of 7° or 12% to allow thecondensate to drain back to the cylinder ortrap. NO HORIZONTAL RUNS. NO 90°ELBOWS.2 Water condensate tube to slope at 10° or18% from the horizontal for condensate todrain back to drain point. A suitably sizedtrap will be required to prevent steam fromescaping via the condensate drainconnection.3 Care should be taken to support steam hosesufficiently such that no kinks are formedwhich would flood with condensate causingthe bore of the tube to become constricted, leading to excessive pressure in the steamlines.4 The duct should be clear of obstructions, transformations and bends until the steamhas been absorbed into the airflow. VapacHumidity Control Ltd. Suggest a figure of 1.5times the estimated absorbtion distancestated on the “Multipipe” design sheet.Which is supplied with the quotation.5 Should it be necessary to slope the steamhose away from the Vapac Boiler, it will benecessary to fit a condensate separator toremove the condensate at the lowest point. This will need to be taken to a suitable drain.Nov, 07
