172 Vehicle care2. Connect the other end of the redpositive (+) jumper cable to thepositive (+) battery terminal of thevehicle.3. Connect the black negative (−)jumper cable to the negative (−)battery terminal of the vehicle. Donot let the other end touchanything until the next step.4. Make the final connection toa heavy, unpainted metal enginepart or to the remote negative (−)terminal on the other vehicle withthe run‐down battery.5. Press m to start the vehicle. Thiswill wake up the electronics on thevehicle. The engine will only startif it is needed.6. Try to start the other vehicle thathad the run‐down battery. If it willnot start after a few tries, itprobably needs service.Disconnecting the jumper cables1. Disconnect the black negative (−)jumper cable from the othervehicle that had the run‐downbattery. Do not let the other end ofthe cable touch anything until afterthe next step.2. Disconnect the black negative (−)jumper cable from the vehicle.3. Disconnect the red positive (+)jumper cable from the vehicle. Donot let the other end of the cabletouch anything until after the nextstep.4. Disconnect the red positive (+)jumper cable from the othervehicle.5. Return the positive (+) andnegative (−) terminal covers totheir original positions.TowingTowing the vehicleCautionIncorrectly towing of a disabledvehicle may cause damage to thevehicle. The disabled vehicleshould just be towed on a flatbedcar carrier.Let the vehicle just be towed bywell trained technicians.Towing another vehicleThe vehicle is neither designed norintended to tow a trailer or anothervehicle.
