Vehicle care 185System initialisationAfter tyre pressure correction orwheel change, the system must beinitiated:1. Apply electrical parking brake.2. Press the MENU button to selectthe Vehicle Information Menu.3. Turn the adjuster wheel to selectTire Pressure System.4. Press the SET/CLR button toselect the reset of the system.On vehicles with Midlevel-Display, make a longer press onthe SET/CLR button to start theinitialisation of the system.5. On vehicles with Uplevel-Display,the selection is confirmed by apop-up indication. Confirm to startthe initialisation of the system.Selection and indication can bedifferent between Midlevel-Displayand Uplevel-Display.If the system is ready again, amessage is displayed in the DriverInformation Centre withUplevel-Display.Tread depthCheck tread depth at regularintervals.Tyres should be replaced for safetyreasons at a tread depth of 2-3 mm(4 mm for winter tyres).For safety reasons it is recommendedthat the tread depth of the tyres onone axle should not vary by more than2 mm.The legally permissible minimumtread depth (1.6 mm) has beenreached when the tread has worndown as far as one of the tread wearindicators (TWI). Their position isindicated by markings on thesidewall.If there is more wear at the front thanthe rear, swap round front wheels andrear wheels periodically. Ensure thatthe direction of rotation of the wheelsremains the same.Tyres age, even if they are not used.We recommend tyre replacementevery 6 years.
