4410 Maintenance and fault rectificationVEGAMET 391 • With SIL qualification38704-EN-17090710 Maintenance and fault rectification10.1 MaintenanceIf the device is used properly, no special maintenance is required innormal operation.10.2 Rectify faultsThe operator of the system is responsible for taking suitable meas-ures to rectify faults.Maximum reliability is ensured. Nevertheless, faults can occur duringoperation. These may be caused by the following, e.g.:• Measured value from sensor not correct• Voltage supply• Interference in the cablesThe first measures to be taken are to check the input and outputsignal as well as to evaluate the error messages via the display. Theprocedure is described below. Further comprehensive diagnosticscan be carried out on a PC with PACTware and the suitable DTM. Inmany cases, the causes can be determined in this way and faultsrectified.Should these measures not be successful, please call in urgent casesthe VEGA service hotline under the phone no. +49 1805 858550.The hotline is manned 7 days a week round-the-clock. Since we offerthis service worldwide, the support is only available in the Englishlanguage. The service is free, only standard call charges are incurred. The signal conditioning instrument and the connected sensors arepermanently monitored during operation and the values entered dur-ing parameter adjustment are checked for plausibility. If irregularitiesoccur or in case of incorrect parameter adjustment, a fault signal istriggered. In case of an instrument defect or line break/shortcircuit, afault signal is also triggered. The fault indication lights up in case of failure and the current outputas well as the relays react according to the configured fault mode. Ifthe fail safe relay was configured, it will deenergize. In addition, one ofthe following error messages is outputted on the display.Error code Cause RectificationE012 Hardware error, sen-sor input– Switch the instrument off and on– Send instrument for repairE014 Sensor current> 21 mA or short-circuit– Check sensor, e.g. on failure– Remove short-circuitReaction when malfunc-tion occursCauses of malfunctionFault rectification24 hour service hotlineFault message
