144 MountingVEGAPULS SR 68 • 4 … 20 mA/HART two-wire38294-EN-1306244 Mounting4.1 General instructionsOn instruments with process fitting thread, the hexagon must be tight-ened with a suitable screwdriver. Wrench size see chapter "Dimen-sions".Warning:The housing must not be used to screw the instrument in! Applyingtightening force can damage internal parts of the housing.Protect your instrument further through the following measuresagainst moisture penetration:• Use the recommended cable (see chapter "Connecting to powersupply")• Tighten the cable gland• Loop the connection cable downward in front of the cable glandThis applies particularly to:• Outdoor mounting• Installations in areas where high humidity is expected (e.g. throughcleaning processes)• Installations on cooled or heated vesselsMake sure that all parts of the instrument exposed to the process aresuitable for the existing process conditions. These are mainly:• Active measuring component• Process fitting• Process sealProcess conditions are particularly:• Process pressure• Process temperature• Chemical properties of the medium• Abrasion and mechanical influencesYou can find the specifications of the process conditions in chapter"Technical data" as well as on the nameplate.4.2 Mounting preparations - Parabolic antennaThe instrument is also available in versions where the antenna hasa diameter larger than the process fitting (thread, flange). With suchversions the antenna must be disconnected from the process fittingbefore mounting. Proceed as follows:1. Clamp VEGAPULS SR 68 with the flange, e.g. in a bench vice2. Hold the connection piece (3) with a wrench on the flat surfaces(width across flats 22 mm)3. Loosen counter nut (2) completely with a wrench (width acrossflats 36 mm) in the direction of the antennaScrewing inProtection against mois-tureSuitability for the processconditions
