17SPECTRA COMMERCIAL AND RESIDENTIAL INSTALLATION GUIDEBefore Starting Unit, Check The Following:o High voltage is correct and matches nameplateo Fuses, breakers and wire size correcto Low voltage wiring completeo Piping completed and water system cleaned and flushedo Air is purged from closed loop systemo Isolation valves are open, water control valves or loop pumps wiredo Condensate line open and correctly pitchedo Transformer switched to lower voltage tap if neededo Dip switches set correctly (commercial microprocessor only)o DHW pump switch off unless piping is completed and air has been purgedo Blower rotates freely - foam shipping support has been removedo Blower speed correct (taps on correct pins)o Air filter is clean and in positiono Service/access panels are in placeo Return air temperature is between 60-80°F in heating and 70-95°F in coolingo Air coil cleanedStart Up Steps:1) Initiate a control signal to energizethe blower motor. Check bloweroperation.2) Initiate a control signal to place theunit in the cooling mode. Coolingset point must be set below roomtemperature.3) First stage cooling will energizeafter a time delay.4) Be sure that the compressor andwater control valve or loop pumpsare activated.5) Verify that the water flow rate iscorrect by measuring the waterpressure drop through the heatexchanger using the P/T ports andcomparing to water pressure dropfound in Table 3.6) Check the temperature of both thesupply and discharge water. Referto Start Up Performance Table 27) Check for an air temperature dropof 15° to 25° F across the air coil, depending on the fan speed andentering water temperature. Referto unit operating pressures onpage 13.8) Adjust the cooling set point abovethe room temperature and verifythat the compressor and watervalve or loop pumps deactivate.Unit Start UpTable 3 - Water Pressure Drop TableTable 2 - Temperature Change Through Heat ExchangerWater Flow Rate Water Temperature(GPM) Change (Deg °F)Rise (Clg) Drop (Htg)For Closed Loop: Ground Source or 9 - 12 4 - 8Cooler/Boiler systems at 3 gpm/tonFor Open Loop: Ground Water systems 20 - 26 10 - 17at 1.5 gpm/tonFLOW RATE PRESSURE DROP (PSI)MODEL GPM 30°F 50°F 90°F1.5 2.1 2.0 1.9SX010 2.0 3.4 3.2 3.02.5 5.2 4.9 4.61.5 2.0 1.9 1.8SX013 2.5 4.6 4.4 4.13.5 8.1 7.7 7.22.0 3.0 2.9 2.7SX016 3.0 5.9 5.7 5.34.0 9.7 9.3 8.73.0 1.2 1.2 1.1SX019 4.0 2.1 2.0 1.95.0 3.5 3.3 3.13.0 1.5 1.4 1.3SX024 4.5 3.2 3.1 2.96.0 6.0 5.8 5.44.0 1.2 1.2 1.1SX030 5.5 2.1 2.0 1.97.0 3.2 3.1 2.95.0 2.4 2.2 2.1SX036 7.0 3.9 3.7 3.59.0 6.2 5.9 5.55.0 1.7 1.6 1.5SX042 8.0 3.5 3.3 3.111.0 6.2 5.9 5.56.0 3.5 3.1 2.3SX048 9.0 6.7 5.9 4.212.0 10.7 9.5 7.08.0 4.1 3.7 2.8SX058 11.0 6.6 6.0 4.714.0 10.0 8.9 6.610.0 6.1 5.4 3.9SX068 13.0 9.3 8.2 6.016.0 13.0 11.7 9.0Note: To obtain maximum performance the air coil should be cleanedbefore start up. A 10% percent solution of dishwasher detergent and wateris recommended for both sides of coil. A thorough water rinse should follow.
