(6.1 m ± 1.5 m) above the road surface.1 Prepare the sensor while still on the ground: remove the large bolts holding theend knuckle to the mount, then use the four small bolts and lock washers to attachthe knuckle to the sensor backplate.2 Insert the mounting straps through the slots on the mount.3 Position the mount on the pole in the spot you chose from the mounting table inthe previous step.4 Tighten the straps.5 Attach the knuckle you prepared earlier to the mount using the large bolts (thecable connector should be pointed down). Don’t tighten completely yet, as you stillneed to align the sensor to the roadway.Offset Height6–15 ft 12–25 ft15–50 ft 15–25 ft> 50 ft 25–60 ft1 Tilt the sensor down so it is aimed at the center of the lanes of interest.2 Adjust the side-to-side angle so that the sensor’s 90º field of view coversthe approach.Note. Make sure the front edge of the sensor’s footprint covers beyond thestop bar. This allows you to detect vehicles that do not stop at or behind thestop bar.3 Align the sensor to the roadway2 Mount the sensorNote. The mounting location for your SmartSensor Matrix sensor(s) should have already been determined as part of the design pro-cess. If it has not been, please consult the SmartSensor Matrix User Guide for complete design and installation guidelines.1 Connect a 12 AWG grounding wire to the grounding lug on the bottom of the sensor.2 If the intersection is bonded, connect the other end of the grounding wire to the earth ground for the pole that the sensor ismounted on. If the intersection is not bonded, run the grounding wire down the pole, alongside the cable, back to cabinet ground.4 Ground the sensor
