Each procedure represents a statuscode, or group of status codes that may bedisplayed, indicating a problem.The status codes are numerical (e.g. 5-901),with the number to the left of the hyphen indi-cating the area of the machine and theremaining digit(s) indicating a particular faultto that area. Using the example of statuscode 5-901, the first number (5) indicatesthat the fault has occurred in the ADF (Auto-matic Document Feeder). A “10-106” codewould indicate a duplex jam.To access the correct procedure, use thesection content page to locate the indicatedstatus code and the appropriate page num-ber. The Status Code Entry Table is com-posed of two columns. The left columncontains the status code fault indicator. Theright column includes a description of thefault and the actions to take in resolving theproblem. The actions are the “most likely”suspects. In each case, if you try to resolvethe fault and all attempts fail, you are directedto call for service.Anytime the fault code is not listed, or if youare unable to clear the problem within rea-sonable time you should call for assistance.Always follow the Repair procedures care-fully. Whenever directed, be sure to Switchoff the Main Power Switch and disconnectthe Power Cord.Always Heed The Following Warning.....WARNINGSwitch off the Main Power Switch, anddisconnect the Power Cord. Install Lock-out tag. Failure to do so could result insevere electrical shock.Table 1.
