Phaser 7700 Color Laser Printer Service Manual 4-127Processes of the RegiCon AdjustmentRegiCon is an engine resident algorithm that aligns the Magenta, Yellow, andBlack lasers to the Cyan laser. Normally, the RegiCon procedure only needsto be performed if the Laser Unit has been replaced. The RegiCon procedures are listed in the Adjustment/Calibration Menu ofService Diagnostics as RegiCon 685 Setup Cycle, and are split into severalsections. The should be performed in the order listed, for optimal adjustments. The test procedures should be performed in the following order. Each testmust be successful before proceeding to the next. Refer to the RegiConFlowchart on page 4-133.Check Print-qualityRegiCon will fail if there are any print-quality problems or if the MOB Sensor isnot functioning correctly.1. Select the Print Halftone pages from diagnostics and examine the page forany print-quality problems. Diagnose and repair any print-quality problemsbefore running any RegiCon procedure.2. Exame the shutter on the MOB Sensor and verify that it is not dislodgedand moves freely without contacting any other parts.3. If RegiCon appears to run correctly, but “No Results” is displayed, one ofthe Sensors on the MOB Sensor Assembly or the Laser could have failed,or the usrstart_del snippet needs to be downloaded to the hard drive.Note The preferred method to correct any color registrationissues is to follow the Reset Engine NVRAM procedure(page 6-150). This will write the stored, original, printerspecific RegiCon values from the Hard Drive to EngineNVRAM. If this does not restore Proper Printer ColorRegistration, then proceed with RegiCon Adjustments.Preparation for RegiCon1. Use the Front Panel connection setup menu to disable Netware.2. Flip the Dip Switch #2 on the printer’s rear panel Down (this disables theStartup Page and enables the printer to write test results to the print engineNVRAM).3. Disconnect any parallel or network cables from the rear panel of the printer.4. If a Finisher is installed, disconnect the two cables to the printer and slidethe Finisher away from the printer.Note Remember to wait until the printer displays “Ready toPrint,” plus 10 seconds, after each of the 685-x tests arerun before power cycling printer to display results indiagnostics. Failure to wait long enough will result in a“No Results” message.
