Replacing the Laser Print CartridgeChapter 4: Maintaining the Printer v 4-3Replacing the Laser Print CartridgeWhen the laser print cartridge runs low on toner, theprinter’s Control Panel display will prompt you to replacethe cartridge. This is a simple procedure, described on thefollowing pages.• Do not expose the cartridge to direct sunlight orartificial light for more than 15 minutes.Overexposure will permanently damage thephotosensitive imaging drum.• Do not open the drum shutter (see Figure 4.1 below)or touch the green imaging drum surface.• Be sure to shake the cartridge as directed todistribute the toner inside the cartridge.
