6 Phaser 4400 Laser PrinterPhaser 4400Evaluate Performance FeaturesToday’s busy workgroups have no time to waste,whatever their size. Consider raw engine speed, but alsolook at RIP speed (largely determined by processorspeed), first-page-out time, and the ability to processmultiple jobs concurrently to give you a feel for theprinter’s total throughput capability.Speed at the cost of quality is not acceptable. Considerthe resolution of the printer as represented in a varietyof text styles and sizes. Also consider fills, gradients,graphic elements, and photo images.Evaluating Workgroup Laser PrintersBy definition, a workgroup printer is a shared resource. Typically, a network laser printer is shared by up to 25 peopleon a regular basis. It is also common for there to be multiple computer platforms, such as the various versions ofMicrosoft Windows, MacOS, Unix, or Linux.
