FT3DR/DE Technical SupplementAlignmentALIGNMENT-2Internal System Alignment RoutineThis uses a programmed routine in the transceiverwhich simplifies many previously complex discretecomponent settings and adjustments with digital-ly-controlled settings via front panel buttons andLCD indications.1. To begin, set the transceiver to the VFO modeon the "A-Band, FM-mode" and "B-Band, FM-mode" in the "Mono" band mode.2. Press the [A/B] key to set the A-band as the op-erating band.3. Press and hold the [A/B] key displays only theoperating band.4. P r o g r a m a p a s s w o r d f o r t h e A l i g n m e n t(AH072M) according to the following proce-dure:1) Press and hold the [DISP] key for one secondto enter the Set mode.2) Touch [DISPLAY] briefly to enable adjust-ment of this Set Mode Item.3) Rotate the DIAL knob to select Set Mode Item7: OPENING MESSAGE.4) Press the [DISP] key briefly to enable adjust-ment of this Set Mode Item.5) Rotate the DIAL knob to select Set Mode ItemMESSAGE.6) Press the [DISP] key briefly to enable adjust-ment of this Set Mode Item.7) Input the password "AH072M" (toggle thealphabet input screen, and the number inputscreen when necessary).8) When you have completed the password, press the [DISP] key briefly, then press thePTT switch to exit to normal operation.Note: Remember to delete the password "AH072M"from the Set Mode Item 7: OPENING MESSAGE whenthe alignment adjustments are finished by pressing andholding in the [GM] key for two seconds (as in step 8above).5. Press the [PWR] switch for one seconds to turnthe transceiver "OFF".6. Press and hold in the [GM] key while poweringthe transceiver "ON" again. The transceiver willenter the adjustment mode, and the displaywill show the first alignment setting. Thereaf-ter, the frequencies used during alignment willautomatically be set without action by the tech-nician.In the alignment process, each adjustment is se-lected by rotating the DIAL knob. The alignmentis performed by: pressing the [V/M] key injecting asignal of the required frequency and level; makingthe adjustment; and then pressing the [V/M] keyagain (the "Data" will disappear from the display),to store the adjustment. To exit the alignment routine, press the [GM] key. After performing the system alignment in its en-tirety, individual settings can be returned to andadjusted individually, should the need arise. As each transceiver is individually optimized atthe factory, the precise settings for the transceiveron your bench may be slightly different.PLL Reference Frequency Adjustment (PLL REF) Connect the test equipment as shown in Figure 1:TX Alignment Setup. Rotate the DIAL knob to select the AlignmentMenu "PLL REF". Press the [V/M] button (the "Data" will appearon the display). Press the PTT switch to transmit and rotate theDIAL knob so that the frequency counter settingis 440.000 MHz (±100 Hz). Release the PTT switch, then press the [V/M]button (the "Data" will disappear from the dis-play).Regulated9.1 VDC P.S.SamplingCoupler50-ohm RFDummy LoadIn-LineWattmeterDeviationMeterFrequencyCounterFigure 1: TX Alignment Setup
