Al-ways replace all six batteries at the same time, payingattention to the polarity indicated inside the case. The SBT-12 must not be used with re-chargeable cells. The SBT-12 does not con-tain the thermal and over-current protec-tion circuits (provided in the “SBR” series of Lith-ium-ion Battery Packs) required when utilizing Ni-Cd and Ni-MH cells.Low Battery Indication As your battery discharges during use, the voltagewill gradually become lower. When the battery volt-age reaches 6.0 Volts, the “ ” icon will blink onthe LCD display indicating that the battery packmust be recharged before further use. Avoid recharging Lithium-ion batteries before the“Low Battery” indicator is observed, as this candegrade the charge capacity of your Lithium-ionbattery pack. YAESU recommends that you carry anextra, fully-charged pack with you so you will notlose communications capability due to a depletedLithium-ion battery. You may insert the cable plug of the SAD-11into the EXT DC jack located on the right sideof the transceiver directly.4. If the transceiver is inserted correctly, the RED indi-cator on the SBH-11 will glow. A fully-dischargedpack will be charged completely in 4 hours. It takes 5 hours for full charge with the SAD-11 connected to the transceiver directly.Important Notes: The SAD-11 is not designed to power the trans-ceiver for operation (transmission). Do not leave the charger connected to the trans-ceiver for continuous periods in excess of 24 hours.Long term overcharging can degrade the Lithium-ion battery pack and significantly shorten its usefullife. If using a charger other than the SAD-11, SBH-11,or if using a battery pack other than the SBR-12LI,follow the appropriate instructions provided withthe charger/battery. Contact your Dealer if you haveany doubts about the appropriateness of the particu-lar charger or battery pack you intend to use.
