Press the keyto return to the frequency screen. After entering the call sign or name,by touching the characters on thescreen, or turning and pressing the[DIAL] knob at the top right ofthe screen, touch on the screento confirm and enter the call sign.Using the AMS (Automatic Mode Select) function, the transceivercan switch its communication mode automatically to match thereceived signal. This is very convenient because there is no need topay attention to the communication mode of the partner. Turn on theAMS function during normal operation. When the AMS function isactive, a bar will be displayed on top of the mode (Example: ).In the AMS mode, transmission and reception is carried out usingthe normal DN mode. However, when transmitting after receiving inother modes, the mode last received will be used. To transmit usingthe normal DN mode, touch the key and set the AMS functionagain. When operating using the digital fixed mode ( / ), try to beaware of the FM signal status and do not transmit when there is apossibility of interfering with the FM signals on the channel.FTM-400DR/DEQuick GuideVFOmodeMemorymodeUsing the band scopeSaving to a memory channelAssign a name to the memorySwitching the operating band108 to 137MHz (air band)137 to 174MHz (144MHz band)174 to 400MHz400 to 480MHz (430MHz band)480 to 999.99MHzSKIP/SELOFF D WTx PWRH ISCAN REVFW DBACKFW DBACKBEACONBACK FW DS.LIST MSGLO GHOMEBEACONTXBACK FW DREC PLAY TRACKAL L PLAY STOPCLR VOICEDWN UP12345 6 7 8 910 11MicrophoneaperturePTTVolume knobsBand A (digital/analog)Transmit band; white charactersBand B (analog)Sub-band; gray charactersDial knobs for frequency, memory channel and squelch setting5 Band A communication modeswitch / WIRES-X key1 Power switch / Lock key4 GM operation key2 DISP switch / SET mode key6 VFO / memory mode switch-over keyMemory edit key7 SQL key (touch the key then adjust usingthe DIAL knob)8 Mute key3 Function key / MW key9 Band scope key10 DATA terminal11 microSD memory card slotENTReception frequency bandsof Bands A & B NORMAL WIDERX COVERAGE settings(Default)OOOOOOO---M WFM WFM WFM WFM WFDisplaying the function keysSCOPE5MHzstepsInput / change call sign or nameENTCALLSIGNSETUPDISPBACKM WFM WFM/V M WFM WFPress for onesecond or longerSelecting the communication modeAnalogDigital High-quality voiceAuto Automatic mode operation using the AMS functionSETUPDISPCHANGEC4FM FDMA Digital basic mode.High-quality voice communication mode using the full12.5 kHz bandwidth.High-speed data communication mode that uses the full12.5 kHz bandwidth for data communication.
