8-341234567891011Rear brakeObserve these precautions: When checking the fluid level, make sure thatthe top of the brake fluid reservoir is level. Use only the recommended quality brake fluid, otherwise the rubber seals may deteriorate, causing leakage and poor braking performance. Refill with the same type of brake fluid. Mixingfluids may result in a harmful chemical reactionand lead to poor braking performance. Be careful that water does not enter the brakefluid reservoir when refilling. Water will signifi-cantly lower the boiling point of the fluid and mayresult in vapor lock. Brake fluid may deteriorate painted surfaces orplastic parts. Always clean up spilled fluid imme-diately. As the brake pads wear, it is normal for the brakefluid level to gradually go down. However, if thebrake fluid level goes down suddenly, have aYamaha dealer check the cause.EBU24290Changing the brake fluidHave a Yamaha dealer change the brake fluid atthe intervals specified in the NOTE after the peri-odic maintenance and lubrication chart. In addi-tion, have the oil seals of the master cylinders andcalipers as well as the brake hoses replaced at theintervals listed below or whenever they are dam-aged or leaking.
