1EnglishThank you for selecting a YAMAHA speaker system.Read these precautions carefully before using yourspeakers.• To assure the finest performance, please read thismanual carefully. Keep it in a safe place for futurereference.• Install the speakers in a cool, dry, clean place - awayfrom windows, heat sources, sources of excessivevibration, dust, moisture and cold. Avoid sources ofhumming (transformers, motors). To prevent fire orelectrical shock, do not expose the speakers to rain orwater.• To prevent the enclosure from warping or discoloring,do not place the speakers where they will be exposed todirect sunlight or excessive humidity.• Do not place the following objects on the speakers:Glass, china, etc.If glass etc. falls by vibrations and breaks, it may causebodily injury.A burning candle etc.If the candle falls by vibrations, it may cause fire andbodily injury.A vessel with water in itIf the vessel falls by vibrations and water spills, it maycause damage to the speakers, and/or you may get anelectric shock.• Do not place the speakers where foreign objects such aswater drips might fall. It might cause a fire, damage tothe speakers, and/or bodily injury.• Do not place the speakers where they are liable to beknocked over or struck by falling objects. Stableplacement will also ensure better sound performance.• Placing the speakers on the same shelf or rack as theturntable can result in feedback.• Any time you note distortion, reduce the volume controlon your amplifier to a lower setting. Never allow youramplifier to be driven into “clipping”. Otherwise thespeakers may be damaged.• When using an amplifier with a rated output powerhigher than the nominal input power of the speakers,care should be taken never to exceed the speakers’maximum input.• Do not attempt to clean the speakers with chemical solvents asthis might damage the finish. Use a clean, dry cloth.• Do not attempt to modify or fix the speakers. Contactqualified YAMAHA service personnel when any serviceis needed. The cabinet should never be opened for anyreasons.• Secure placement or installation is the owner’sresponsibility. YAMAHA shall not be liable for anyaccident caused by improper placement orinstallation of speakers..Using as 2ch stereo speakersBetter stereo images will be obtained when the speakersare slightly angled in towards the listeners.Using as main speakers in a multi channelsystemPosition the speakers on both sides of the TV. Thepositioning of speakers is important, because it controls thewhole sound quality of a multi channel system. Set up thespeakers on the basis of your listening position byfollowing the owner’s manual supplied with youramplifier.NoteThese speakers feature a magnetically shielded design, but there isstill a chance that placing them too close to a TV set might impairpicture color.
