6-3ESU00344Engine oil levelThe engine oil level should be checked before each use.CAUTION:@Do not run the engine with too much or not enoughoil in the oil tank. Oil could flow into the air filter caseand the engine could be damaged.@Checking the engine oil level1. Place the snowmobile on a level surface and applythe parking brake.2. Start the engine, warm it up for 10–15 minutes, andthen turn it off.3. Disconnect the oil level gauge coupler 1.CAUTION:@Disconnect the oil level gauge coupler before remov-ing the oil level gauge/dipstick. Otherwise the cablecan twist and become severed.@4. Remove the oil level gauge/dipstick 2, wipe it clean,insert it back into the filler hole (without screwing itin), and then remove it again to check the oil level.NOTE:@The engine oil should be between the “F” 3 and “E” 4level marks on the oil level gauge/dipstick.@5. If the engine oil is below the “E” level mark, add suffi-cient oil of the recommended type to raise it to the “F”level mark. (See page 6-2 for recommended oil.)CAUTION:@ When adding the engine oil, be careful not to fillabove the “F” level mark on the oil levelgauge/dipstick. Make sure that no foreign material enters theengine oil tank.@6. Insert the oil level gauge/dipstick into the oil fillerhole, and then tighten it securely.7. Connect the oil level gauge coupler.
