85To use either of the Elite Gooseneck Tabletop Microphones:1. Remove the microphone from the Charger Base. The microphone willautomatically turn on. Based on settings in the Base DSP, the microphonewill start either un-muted or muted, indicated by green or red blinkinglights, respectively.2. Gooseneck Tabletop microphones should be located on the table with themicrophone pointing toward the user, trying to keep the microphone 18 to24 inches (45 to 60 cm) from the speaker. The pick-up pattern for thisdirectional microphone is cardioid, focusing a “beam” towards the speaker. It is always better for the microphone to be as close to the person speakingas possible, but avoid placing the microphone where it might be blocked byequipment or paperwork. Avoid placing microphones too close to an audioor video conference speaker to avoid echoes. Make sure that the microphoneis always placed standing on its rubber feet atop a flat surface. Refer to thediagram below:3. With the microphone in position on the table, see the picture above forexample, mute or un-mute the microphone by touching the mute area(confirm by flashing green or flashing red LEDs, respectively). In push-to-talk mode, touch the mute area and keep the finger there to unmute themicrophone. Removing the finger from the touch area will mute themicrophone again.4. To turn the microphone off, return it to the Charger Tray or touch and holdthe Mute touch area for about 10 seconds until the LEDs turn solid red, andremove the finger. The microphone can also be turned off from the localweb UI or the room control interface. In push to talk mode the microphonecannot be shut down using the mute area.If the microphones are placed too far away from the Remote Antenna(depending on the RF power setting this can be 300 feet, 90 meters, or more)the connection will be dropped (LEDs flash red-yellow-green-yellow) and themicrophone will mute. After 15 seconds the microphone will beep, and willcontinue beeping every 30 seconds to indicating that it is out of range.Move the microphone closer to the Remote Antenna and the connection willautomatically be re-established to its original state, and the beeping will cease.Otherwise, the microphone will continue beeping until it turns off after about15 minutes.
