11Installation InstructionsInspectionUpon reception, inspect the merchandiseand notify both the carrier and the insurancecompany, in writing, of any possible dam-age.Environmental protectionEliminate packing in accordancewith the regulations in force on en-vironmental conservation.During installation and mainte-nance, keep in mind that HFC-407C(see identification plate) POE oil are used.Warning signsThese signs on the unit indicate potentiallydangerous conditions, and their meaningshould be remembered taken into account.Fig. 1This symbol indicates an electrical risk ordanger.Fig. 2Warning: The unit is equipped with remotecontrol and can start automatically. Two min-utes prior to having access to the interior, disconnect the power supply so as to avoidany contact with the fan turbine in motion.Fig. 3Warning: It is mandatory to read the instruc-tions prior to any handling.Fig. 4Warning: Fan in operation.Fig. 5Warning: Do not touch hot surfaces.Fig. 6Warning: Possible gas leak due to inad-equate handling.Fig. 7Warning: Belt and pulley drive.SafetyInstallation and maintenance operations ofthis air conditioning system should be car-ried out by qualified and expert personnelonly. Periodical maintenance operations, such as cleaning the coils and air filters, should be carried out so as to keep unitperformance at an optimum.CautionThis unit should be installed andused in accordance with:- Low Voltage ElectrotechnicalRegulations.- Safety Regulations for Cooling Plants andInstallations.- Regulations on Pressure Equipment.- Basic Construction Standards.- Technical Construction Standards.- Local ordinances.GBTransportationThe outdoor units should always be trans-ported in a vertical position, so as to avoidoil leakage from the compressor. If this po-sition has to be changed for any reason, thisshould be done only for the time strictly nec-essary.LocationFinal location should be selected previouslywith permanent access for maintenanceservicing, either through the side panels orthe rear panel. The outdoor units can be installed directlyoutdoors. If installed indoors, in basements, attics, etc., the outdoor and extraction airintake ducts should be connected. When installing outdoors, take into accountthat in the winter operating cycle, the out-door coil condenses a large amount of wa-ter that should be evacuated through thedrain. Also take into account the possibility of anobstruction of the drain by foreign mattersuch as dust or dirt.ClearancesClearances should be left in the installationof each unit for:a) Air intake and discharge of the outdoorunit.b) Connection of drain and electrical tub-ing.c) Air ducts.d) Maintenance servicing.e) Power supply connection.Air ducts1 - Connect the ducts, isolating them fromthe apparatus by means of a flexiblehose, preferably of non-combustiblematerial, so as to avoid the transmissionof vibrations from the apparatus itself. Ifthe ducts are made of flexible material, they will not transmit vibrations.2 - In the SCOC-150K, 180K and SCOH-150K, 180K, 240K, 300K units, two in-dependent ducts should be installed;one for each fan up to discharge, so asto avoid recirculation of air.3 - If the air discharge of the outdoor coil iscarried out through ducts, it is conven-ient that the first 1-metre section be ofgalvanised sheeting so as to avoid de-terioration due to possible dripping.Drain connectionsInstall the drain tubing of each tray througha siphon. The drain line should be sloped a minimumof 2 cm per meter.Unit connections are with 28.5 outer diam-eter copper tubing.Attention: When the heat pump operatesat outdoor temperatures below 5°C, thedrain pipe could be obstructed due to ice. Therefore, if installed outdoors, this possi-bility should be taken into account, install-ing an electric heater at the drain connec-tion and around the compressor supports, connecting same electrically in accordancewith the diagrams supplied.Interconnecting the unitsUnit installation comprises:- Unit mounting.- Refrigerant tubing connections.- Unit wiring. When installing split units, the cooling cir-cuit should be completely leakproof aftermounting to insure there are no leaks. This will help to obtain maximum perform-ance with minimum consumption, and avoidserious damage to the unit. This is an eco-logical precaution as well.Piping connectionThe length of the interconnecting tubing ofthe units should be as short as possible. The maximum admissible distances with thecircuit and standard tubing diameter arethose indicated in each section of the cor-responding indoor units.Tubing to be usedSpecial care should be taken that the tub-ing that interconnects the two units is keptclean and dry, even prior to installation. It isadvisable to take into account the followingrecommendations:- Use copper refrigerant quality tubing only.- Do not work outdoors when raining.- The ends of the tubing should remainclosed during installation.Fastening the unit (on the floor)When locating the unit on the floor, if out-doors, it should be placed on supports soas to avoid possible accumulation of snow, which would obstruct air intake.600 600600** -Return air without ducts (minimum clearance 600 mm)-Retrun air with ducts (no clearance required)
